Decentralized Coordinated Automatic Generation Control Method Adapted to the Accessing of Multi energy Sources

  • With the accessing of intermittent energy represented by wind and small hydropower in large scale, the power grid will face the new challenges in frequency regulation and peak load regulation due to the uncertainty of energy generation. If original automatic generation control is still applied to provincial power grid, it will be difficult to solve such problems as increasing pressure on frequency regulation in the whole power grid, AGC control performance degradation and transmission congestion. In this paper, a decentralized coordinated automatic generation control method is presented, in which the characteristics of multi energy sources and load distribution are considered during AGC control, and different type units are coordinated in local areas to improve frequency control performance of power grid, and to reduce the impact caused by the active power fluctuation of intermittent energy sources. The adaptive scheme of the AGC control for power grid with intermittent energy sources accessing is introduced from the aspects of the decentralized coordinated control method, coordinated control strategy and so on. The real AGC model and data of a provincial power grid are taken as example case, and the results verify the validity of the proposed method.
