  • To study the distribution law of lighting strike in power transmission lines, find the causes of lighting strike faults, and determine the sections striken by lighting easily, novel method named single span method based on analyzing of lighting locating data is proposed to divide line into statistic sections of corresponding lighting strike as to each span. In this paper, the feasibility of evaluating antilighting by using of this novel method is discussed, and the statistic model of lighting parameter is described. Taking a case of a classical line in Huizhou district of Guangdong province, the lighting parameters of lighting in each section of lighting strike are applied to modify the calculation model of lightning strike rate. Results show that this method is a reference tool to compare, analyze and judge lighting strike risk of power transmission lines.
