Research on Transient Equivalent Modelling of Doubly fed Induction Generator Based on PSCAD

  • with the increasing of wind power penetration in the power system, accurate and simplified modelling of wind power plants is meeded for power system transient process analysis. A reduced order dynamic equivalent model of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based on PSCAD is introduced. The equivalent model preserves wind turbine model, shafting model and generator model of the detailed DFIG model, but substitute the two back to back PWM converters which are composed of power electronic device, and have huge requirements of simulation resources and calculation accuracy by two independently controllable current sources (CCS) and their corresponding control strategies. Simulation analysis based on PSCAD tested the control performance of CCS, the equivalent models transient response characteristic and the computational efficiency. Its well proved that the proposed model preserves the transient response fidelity of DFIG while significantly improves the computational efficiency.
