Modeling and Control of Hybrid PV-supercapacitor-hydrogen System

  • Because of the strong randomness and fluctuations for power output of photovoltaic (PV) power generation, a kind of control strategy for hybrid PV-supercapacitors-hydrogen system is proposed in this paper. The mathematical models of PV, SC and EL are built, and the structure of DC-BUS linking PV, SC and EL with reduced number of converters and low cost is studied. In this structure, the SC can charge and discharge rapidly to balance the power of hybrid system, and EL can absorb the change of power consumption to ensure terminal voltage of supercapacitors running in the range of the deeply discharging voltage and charging voltage. The control strategy make the internet power be smoothed, the voltage of DC-BUS be stabilized, and the photovoltaic efficiency be improved. The PSCAD simulation results show that the model and control strategy for hybrid PV-supercapacitor-hydrogen system are effective
