Environmental Economic Dispatch Based on Virtual Power Plant with Carbon Capture Unit and Wind Power

  • Wind power is difficult to be direct dispatched because of its strong intermittence and fluctuation. The solvent-storaged carbon capture unit can change the operating status of the capture system quickly, and its integration with wind turbine participates in grid dispatching as a virtual power plant (VPP). Taking the maximum net income of the VPP in the electricity market and carbon trading market as the objective, the day-ahead and real-time two-stage environmental economic dispatch model which contains a sub-model of describing relationship between volumes of stored solvents is constructed. The day-ahead scheduling results are taken as the declaratory output of the VPP. Then the net power output of the carbon capture unit is amended real-time according to the wind power deviation. In the end, simulation results verify the rationality of the proposed model. In addition, the joint operation mode of the VPPs show that the VPPs can optimally coordinate the power output arrangement and net carbon emission level of internal units to make wind power become a scheduling resource. Compared with the independent operation mode, more obvious carbon emission reduction benefit and higher economic benefit can both be obtained.
