DC Distribution Network Planning Considering Timing Characteristics of Distributed Generations and Loads

  • Existing AC distribution network is challenged by the higher penetration of various renewable resources and increasingly diversified loads. The DC distribution network planning model is established considering converting loss and timing characteristics of various distributed generations and loads. The cost of line extension, distributed resources cost, converting equipment cost, electricity purchasing cost from higher voltage system, and environmental benefit are combined together as the optimization objective. The adaptive genetic algorithm with independent coding method is adopted to solve the model. The case study shows that DC distribution network planning scheme can achieve less equivalent annual cost, more access to distributed generation capacity with lower network loss and converting loss. DC planning would be better with higher proportion of DC load.
