Rolling Dispatch of Power System Considering Wind Power Prediction Error and Demand Response

  • The uncertainty of wind power has a lot of influences on the power system operation. This paper presents a rolling dispatch strategy from the day-ahead plan to the intraday plan in order to mitigate the influences, considering that both the prediction error of wind power and demand responses have the time-scale characteristics. The uncertainty of wind power is managed by the stochastic programming theory based on the scenario analysis. The demand responses are differentiated according to the time scale characteristics. The type 1 incentive based demand response and the demand response based on day-ahead hourly varying price are introduced in the day-ahead dispatch. In the intraday rolling dispatch, the type 2 incentive based demand response is used to compensate the volatility of the updated short term wind power prediction. Finally, the operating cost and wind power curtailment rate of the different dispatch schemes are compared with the case study, and the effectiveness of the proposed dispatch strategy is verified. The result shows that rolling dispatch can reduce the operating cost of the system and promote wind power integration.
