Experimental Design for Heat Transfer Enhancement and Pressure Drop Characteristics of Vortex Generators

  • Gas side heat transfer enhancement is the key to improve the performance of heat exchangers. The experimental test system is designed and established to study the performance of heat transfer enhancement and pressure drop characteristics of the vortex generators. Through analysis of the heat transfer enhancement mechanism and the pressure drop characteristics of vortex generators, the experimental apparatus is set up to study and evaluate the performance of vortex generators of different sizes and structures. The test program and procedures are presented. The experiment is designed as counter flow heat transfer with the entrance temperature of cold wind and hot water unchanged basically. The plate wall temperature, the inlet and outlet temperature of air and water, flow rate of water, air side velocity and pressure drop are measured. The properties of heat transfer enhancement and pressure drop characteristics of vortex generators are investigated under different operating conditions. Different shapes of vortex generators are selected to carry out comparative and optimized experiments. It may provide experimental basis for the optimization and improvement of the model and arrangement of the vortex generators.
