Comparative Study on the Start-up Control Strategy of MMC Based UPQC

摘要: 本文研究了基于模块化多电平型换流器的统一电能质量控制器(MMC-UPQC)的启动过程及控制方法。首先介绍了MMC-UPQC的基本运行原理,给出了数学模型,然后分析了MMC-UPQC的启动过程,针对串联侧换流器子模块电容升压过程的特点提出了两种不同的控制方法,并分别分析了各自的优缺点,最后进行了PSCAD/EMTDC仿真验证,结果表明串联侧换流器上下桥臂子模块轮换导通的控制方式由于采用逐步提高模块电容电压的方法,在启动过程的电压电流冲击较小,启动更为平稳,并且易于实现,是一种较好的启动方式。Abstract: In this paper, the start-up process and control method of unified power quality controller (MMC-UPQC) based on modular multilevel converter are studied. Firstly, the basic operating principle and mathematical model of MMC-UPQC are described, and its start-up process is analyzed. Then, two different control methods are presented according to the characteristics of voltage boost process for convertor sub-module on series capacitor side, and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. In the end, through PSCAD/EMTDC software, the validity of start-up control method is verified, and simulation results show that there is low voltage current shock and smooth curve, and it is easy to realize during start-up process by using the control mode of sub-module rotation conduction for the up and down bridge arm on series converter side because of its progressively increasing voltage of module capacity, which is a better way to start-up.
